Moments With Ez (Facebook edition)

I often post little moments with my Ez on facebook. They are just things that make giggle. I just thought I would post them here for our family book.

Posted on FACEBOOK 2011:
Me: Ezra, will you change your brother's diaper, please?
Ezra: What?! I'm not even a girl.
Me: So what, daddy changes diapers.
Ezra: No he doesn't.
Me: (silence. Well, he got me there.) -December 29

While talking with Ezra in a public restroom the woman in the stall next to us said: How old is she?
I replied: It's a boy and he's 3.
Then Ezra chimed in: Why is that girl wearing guy shoes?
I laughed and said: Sorry, he's just getting back at you for calling him a girl.
She half laughed.
Don't mess with Ezra. -December 20

While standing on a broken stool that continued cracking, Ezra said, "Ugh! Why does this thing hate me?!" I have no idea where he learned this. Do I really talk like that? Oh kids; they show us the worst of ourselves :) And every now and then they show us our best selves too. -December 14

Ezra: "Mom, you say, 'boys it's time for a nap' then I'll say, 'can I ride bikes when I wake up?' 'yes you can Ezra."
it's nice that he creates dialogue for me. Somehow he always gets his way when he creates the dialogue though :) -December 9

‎"When I'm a daddy, I'll get to wear big socks." -Ezra
This kid is so excited to be a daddy, and now I know why. -November 29

I dropped my make-up this morning and it broke all over the floor. Ezra gasped and said, "Oh no! I want you to be pretty!" That's right, I teach my kid all about true beauty. -October 28

Ezra's preschool Halloween party is today. He's a monster. He ran in roaring and didn't stop until I left. He was very excited :) -October 27

Ezra's prayer: "Please bless us Ezra can ride the train and sit next to a girl." Oh brother! -October 24

Ezra to daddy: "Daddy, you go to work and make monies, so I can sit on my bum and go on rides." I'm afraid to ask where he learned something like that. -October 17

I just got done with a nature hunt with Ezra. I told him to find me 5 leaves. When I asked him if he knew what a leaf was, he said, "yes, it's conspicuous!" Then he finds them a says, "that was easy". - October 10

After James went out the door, Ezra ran after him and yelled, "have a good day at work dad! Make some monies! Love you." and closed the door. What really made my day was the smile it I noticed it put on James' face while I peered through the window. - October 4

Whenever Ezra plays with his trains, Makai comes and destroys his tracks. He now shouts, "Get away! It's the baby-zilla!" Poor, innocent little Mak. I blame James for this one. -September 26

Ezra's teacher was helping him draw a square. When he was done she told him it looked more like a circle. He replied, "Actually, it's more like an oval." he's either going to be a teacher's pet or a smart alec. -September 16

Ezra was trying to win over a worker at the bank yesterday, so mid conversation he randomly says, "astigmatism." She was like, "what do you know about that?!" and then she had to take him around to her co-workers while he taught her being dehydrated means you're thirsty and that he's precocious and how that means he's smart. He's a sponge. I love this age! -September 15

Ezra kicked his underwear into the toilet on accident at the gym this morning. They were soaking wet, so I of course didn't let him wear them. We walked out of the bathroom and the first girl he saw he walked up to and said, "I'm not wearing any underwear." That's the way to win the ladies. -August 23

Ezra crawled into bed with me this morning. After a little while he leaned over, stroked my cheek and whispered, "sweetheart, I need to talk to you." He then told me all about some dinosaur playing cards. It was apparently a funny story. Then I rolled back over, he stroked my neck and wrapped his arm around my head. He's smooth. It gets me every time. -August 22

Ezra was supposed to be sleeping. I went upstairs, gave him the look while he licked his lips and looked away. He got into the cookies. His excuse? "They fell and the lid was open."- August 17

I was on the phone with my mom enjoying the laughter of my boys playing in the other room when I realized Ezra wasn't helping Makai drink water, he had been pouring it on him and the floor! Poor Makai was soaked. -August 9

Ezra asked me to sing a song about cookie monster at bedtime, so I made one up. He stopped me and said, "Uh, I don't know dat one and it's kinda weird." When did I become the 'not-so-cool-mom'? I thought I still had a couple more years :( -August 9

Today we told Ezra that his grandma and pop pop are visiting Maya (his cousin who lives in Utah). His response was, "Oh dat'd be a long walk!" -August 5

Ezra blesses me with tender moments that I will cherish forever. The ones where he looks into my eyes and sweetly says, "I love you."
I just wish these moments weren't while I am squatting near the toilet waiting to help him wipe his bum.
-July 28

Today something crashed in the grocery store and Ezra shouted, "HOLY Ghost!" He also told me to leave him alone today because "you make my headache." What to do with that goober? (Honestly have no idea where this came from. James and I never swear, nor can I recall reacting to anything with a "holy" anything.) -July 22

Ezra: Are you happy mommy?
Me: No Ezzy; I'm feeling a little sad.
Ezra: (runs to hug me) I'm so sorry you're sad. I'm sad too.
Me: Oh no! Why are you sad?
Ezra: 'Cause we're all friends. Mommy's sad and I'm sad too. We're bowf sad. Me, Ezra and mommy are sad.
Me: (smile)
Ezra: (smile)
I guess being sad doesn't last long when you have kids. -
July 10

I was just sitting outside with Ezra watching the storm come in and I told him to watch for lightning. About 5 minutes later he pointed to our car and shouted, "There's Lightning! I found him!" He's maybe a little excited for Cars 2. -
June 22

Ezra ran around all morning shouting, "Ahoy Ladies!" I don't know where he learns these things, but I am falling in love with his imaginaton. -
June 21

‎"Once upon a time mommy was happy and Makai was happy and daddy was happy and Jesus was happy and EZRA was happy! I don't know why." -guess who said this. -June 14

I drew a picture today. Wasn't sure what it was supposed to be until Ezra said, "A lizard for me!" I went with it until he said, "oh, no, it's a cat... hmm. it's a mouse." pretty sure I definitely can't draw when I can't even convince a 2 year old what I drew! How embarrassing. -June 11

I was following Ezra to bed and he said, "No, go away!" Then he started screaming for me to come back. I reminded him that he told me to go away. He said, "but den I said, "how am I gonna do dis?" and I told you to tuck me in!" haha. cuteness almost always wins in our house. -June 10

Today Ezra said, "Mommy, you know I love you when my say 'doing, doing'!" -June 6

Ezra: I can finish my chicken, or got to bed. It's a choice.

I didn't even give him the options! Proud moment to know that your child hears you and actually understands you sometimes. -
June 2

This morning I got a little impatient with Ezra for taking sooo long to get dressed. I finally snapped and told him I was leaving without him.
He quietly said, "mommy, please don't be mad at me."
I said, "Okay, I'm sorry. I'm just a little frustrated because we need to leave now." He replied, "Oh mommy, don't be fwustwated. Please don't be mad at me. Okay?"

How could I be, honestly? -
May 28

We were watching "so you think you can dance" last night and one of the girls was only wearing one sock during her solo audition. Ezra said, "Oh no! Only one sock! And I can't find dee udder one! Oh man!" He cracks me up :) -
May 27

While watching Beyonce sing on American Idol Ezra said, "Oh, she's a princess..." Cute, right? Well, then he turned to me and said, "just like you!" I put my arm around him, he grabbed my hand and kissed it and then climbed up to kiss my cheek. Oh, now I remember why I love being a mother! -May 25

During his prayer tonight he said, "please bless me so I can poop on da potty and not in da tub." Yes, please answer his prayers! haha. I love that little 2 year old!!! -
May 25

Today Ezra told me he carried me to Heavenly Father. I love that little Tressler Boy. -March 13

I gave Ezra a cookie today. He told me it was broken. I told him it would still taste good and to just eat the pieces. He responded with, "Oh, I'll fix it in my tummy!" -February 20

Today Ezra said, "I ate all my lunch-a-bubble!" He then helped himself to the "lunch-a-bubble" cookies I thought I hid from him. -
February 16

During lunch today Ezra kept telling me to take another bite. I finally told him I was full. His response was, "Full? Oh, you need a diaper change?" Yes lil Ez, that's exactly what I meant. -February 12

Quirky Kayleen

I spend a lot of time pointing out my husband's flaws and quirks, so I thought I'd make a list of things that probably drive him crazy since he'd only ever admit to one or two things.

I can't seem to park straight.
I have a lead foot and road rage.
I open Christmas presents early and then re-wrap them as if nothing happened. (Sorry James and Mom)
Maybe I should mention that I also can't wrap presents.
I get cranky if you wake me up.
I get obnoxiously silly if I stay up late.
I add cream cheese to scrambled eggs and chocolate to my milk.
I sing awkward songs when I get nervous. (Sorry Thomas and Caley and many others :)
I HATE when things get unorganized.
I love getting pedicures, but hate having people touch my feet.
I think the play area in the mall was created with me in mind, and I think it's weird that I'm the only other mom chasing her kids down the slide.
I always pick the second product in from the shelf, never the one in front.
I wear a scarf just about every day.
I do not like to cook, but always feel good when I do.
Yes, I still burn food. Mostly I undercook food which then leads to burning food. I can never seem to get it just right.
I think candles are fantastic.
I stutter.
I thoroughly enjoy a good cry.
I have a secret crush on Justin Bieber.
I have a very wrinkly forehead.
I make up songs about everything and it is a rule that it cannot make sense.
Pottery Barn makes me happy. Their price tags do not.
I get sick if I don't eat right away or if I wait too long in between meals.
I order chicken strips almost every time we eat out.
I think birthdays are a big deal and should be celebrated as such (hint, hint).
I think I'm right most of the time.
It's awful, but I rarely apologize first (see above comment).
I love The Bachelor and Modern Family.
I wear bright red or pink lipstick even thought I know it drives James crazy.
I watch Home Improvement, The Santa Clause, or Stepmom when I'm sad.
I get nervous when I bring Ezra to school because I always think I've forgotten something.
I cry when doing my make-up more often than is normal.
I love wearing socks with nylons (never in public, of course).

I really could keep going, but for now I'll say:

Dear James,
I'm sorry for constantly pointing out your quirks and flaws, when I, shockingly, have so many of my own. Though, I know deep down you think these are cute, even if they do make you roll your eyes. I give you permission to add to this list as you wish (though I advise against it if you know what's good for you). Love you.

Makai's First Haircut

It's tradition in our family that whenever you get a haircut, you also get a lolli.

the first careful cut in the back
So why no 'Before and After'? Well, the before pretty much looks just like the after. James trimmed the hair in front so it stays out of his eyes and then when he started cutting the back I started to cry. Cry. Seriously. I wasn't attached to Ezra's hair and got excited when we first cut his hair at like 8 or 9 months. I've always been attached to Makai's; even after his curls relaxed. However, the back is just too long, so I asked James to cut it. I just didn't realize how emotional it would be for me. So seeing my tears, James was careful to leave the top long. The back doesn't drive me crazy and Makai still looks like my babe. He just doesn't look so much like a girl.

How silly to be attached to hair, but it wasn't just his hair. It was as if I was watching him go from my baby to a little boy.

Preschool Christmas Program

Ezra had his first Christmas Performance last night at his preschool. It was very cute and so fun as a mom to watch. We've been practicing all week, but you'd never guess that.
He yawned a lot, played with his hands a lot, occasionally sang along (sometimes a little delayed), and made sure to keep an eye on mommy.
The pics aren't great, but you get the cute factor even with blurry faces and light-up eyes.

Check out my stud muffin front and center!

The end of this one is too cute if you ask me.

Now he just can't get enough of watching himself.
I love this little boy!

A Trip to the Movies

Makai was sitting so well just eating his popcorn. It was adorable. It didn't last long, unfortunately, but we made sure to appreciate his calmness for the short while it did last.

We saw "Arfer Christmas" aka "Arthur Christmas". It was cute. Ezra was so excited all day to go to the movies. He had a great time. Even Grandma Lene joined us! Pop-pop had to work at the temple, but we made sure to eat his share of popcorn in his honor.

Ezra spotted the Chipmunks on the way out and decided that they are now his favorite. I think the chipmunk's Christmas song has something to do with it considering we've basically had it on repeat in the car for the past 3 days.

O Christmas Tressler's

Ezra was the best decorater this year. He was such a good helper. We set up our tree in the basement and then moved upstairs to help Grandma Lene with hers. He'd put all the ornaments on in one section of the tree. Each time he'd say, "per-fick" or "that looks really great". He is so excited for Santa and for all the lights and decorations he spots while we drive. I really love experiencing Christmas through the eyes of my children.

Makai had fun playing with the beads:

Until he got tangled up in them:

Then he through himself on the ground and rolled out of them:

Makai has already knocked our tree over on himself while trying to snag an ornament. We are finding ornaments all over from this little one's sticky, curious fingers. Trouble, trouble, trouble.

I just love Christmas. It really is the most wonderful time of the year!!

Too Quiet. Must Be Trouble.

"Too quiet. Must be trouble." Those were my thoughts this morning while sitting on my bed with Ezra. Makai had gone to the other side of the bed and I soon realized he was too quiet.

 This is what I found...

Then Ezra went ballistic.
When it's quiet and you have children who are awake, trouble is brewing.

Bubble Baths

I've mentioned before how much I love bath time. I think I love it so much because my boys love bath time so much.

After Makai's bath, Ezra took a jacuzzi bath that he went crazy for. There was too much water for Makai, so I opted to exclude him from the fun.

That little face is my favorite of all his faces. It's his "you made my day" face. I love it.

He's so proud of himself anytime he goes under water.
Makai was extremely interested in the bath. I think he felt left out :(

Aren't babies squatting so adorable? I love it. I think he was trying to jump in.
So I put him in the tub again. This is what happened. I guess that's not what he wanted. Look at that sad wittle face.
Then he tried to climb out. That was the end of Makai's jacuzzi bath experience.
It cracks me up how excited kids get when you change up their routine a little bit. I love those bubbly boys.

Intrigued with the spice drawer and brings us spices often
Says "mmm" after just about every bite
My fearless escapee
Can't help but dance when he hears music
Plays "ready, set, go" with daddy anytime he picks him up (Makai puts his fist in the air, James says "ready, set" then Makai pulls his fist down and James says, "go", then they run up and down the hall literally laughing all the way.)
Puts his hands out to the side and tilts his head to say, "I don't know"
Totally attached to his binky
Still a little guy
Points to his ear when you ask where just about any body part is

All I Want for Christmas ...

Ezra keeps asking me when Santa is bringing his spinning toy. I made the mistake of buying it in front of him and telling him that I was going to give it to Santa and see if Santa could bring it to Ezra for Christmas. I love that a 3 year old will believe my obnoxious lies. Though I do feel badly on occasion for them. Now whenever we go to the store or flip through a magazine Ezra decides he wants everything and he tells me to tell Santa. He would be happy with a lollipop for Christmas, but I think it's fun for him to feel the freedom of asking for everything. Especially when my response isn't always, "It's too expensive." I usually just say, "Okay, we'll ask Santa."

Up until last night I believed that he really wanted everything he pointed to. However, we've been listening to Christmas music and while at the grocery store last night Ezra was going around singing, "All I want for Christmas is ... a toothbrush." Really? Great! That saves my Santa's budget.

He also turned to me in the check out line and said, "Mom, that girl is really pretty." I'm telling ya, this kid keeps me smiling.

Fall Leaves

One of my favorite fall memories as a kid is jumping in the leaves. Since we lived in Idaho (not known for having many trees) we didn't get any chances to jump in a pile of crunchy leaves. It was so fun to be able to jump and roll in the leaves with the boys. I just never realized what a chore it can be to rake them back up after each jump. I guess that must've been my dad's job :)

Looks like he's having fun up until he gets a piece of leave in his mouth and vomits all over our leaf pile. That's when we moved to the front yard.

Then the boys decided to help Grandma plant some bulbs:

I really love Fall.
