Happy Easter

The Saturday before Easter we took the boys to an Easter egg hunt at the local high school. It was lame. It was more of a race. We were in the 0-2 group. The parents were picking their kids up and running to get more eggs. I saw a dad stuffing his own pocket full of eggs. It was a little ridiculous. Ezra got three eggs and he was totally proud of them. He still remembers the colors: orange, blue and pink. He ate all his candy before I could stop him.

We spent Easter Sunday at James' sister, Amy's house with her husband John and their children, Katelyn, Elizabeth, Trey and Brayden. Grandma Lene and Pop-pop (James' mom and step dad) flew in from Maryland and his sister Katie her husband Alex and their two girls, Maya and Hailey drove up from Utah. We were missing James' sister, Erica, her husband, Dusty and their children Amanda, Ashley, Evan and Austin. They were with us in thought.

Easter morning Grandma Lene almost stepped on all the Easter baskets the "clever" Easter bunny hid in the tub, so we moved them to a different room where the kids found them immediately.

Then we all got dressed and went to church. Grandma Lene got this adorable outfit for Makai. What a stud.

We had a wonderful ham dinner and then ventured outside for an Easter egg hunt.

Then we went inside to eat candy and open all our eggs.

(James liked the eating candy part since he's been on a "no-candy diet" to prove a point to me.)

We had a blast. AND we had a great Easter. I hope you all did as well.

Ezra is Sick

Baby Love woke up from a nap yesterday with a fever. He kept telling me his tummy hurt. When we went to pick up James from work Ezra proved his tummy hurt. He proved it all over himself, the carseat and the car. We got home, put him in the tub and then he went to bed at 6:30 last night. He woke up several times in the middle of the night. He came into my room just before 5 this morning and asked, "where's my chicken mommy?" He hasn't been able to eat anything all day. I managed to get him to finish a little cup of applesauce, but he only kept that down for no more than 3 minutes. I saw his eyes widen, his hands rose to his mouth, so what did I do? I caught it. All of it. In my hands. Yum.
(Doesn't he look miserable?)

I hate seeing him sick. I love the down time, the sweetness of his voice and the cuddly behavior, but I hate seeing him look so miserable and uncomfortable. As much as I don't like cleaning up throw up, I love taking care of him. I am constantly asking him if he needs anything. Here are a couple of his requests, "I need more blankets." "I need water with ice in it." "I need peanut butter and jelly. NO! I don't want peanut butter and jelly!" "I need my ball." etc... I am happy to get him whatever he needs, because that's what mommy's do when their babies are sick. That's what I remember my mommy doing anyways.

(He hid under the blankets when I came in to take a picture. I'm mean. I took one anyway. He just moaned, "I don't want take a picture!" Sorry lil' Ez.)

So far Makai is still smiling away. I hope it stays that way.
As much as we miss brother, we're enjoying some quality time together. Especially because there's no Ezra to steal all of his cars back from Makai.
Though we do keep hearing things like, "Settle down Makai!" and "SHHH!!!" coming from Ezra's room.
He just laughs.

Our California Adventure

We had a blast running away to California for the week to visit family. It went by fast and yet it felt like we were gone forever.

Our adventures included but were not limited to:
Shopping
Pedicures
Lots of time with family and many yummy meals!

Six Flags:
This is James' dad and Ezra's Grandpa (because that's how genealogy works, duh!), sometimes known as Grandpa Lizard.
At Six Flags right after we had seen the whale show. I think Ezra would've run from him if he hadn't seen the show first.

His first ride. It started slow and he started laughing. Then it got going fast and he started screaming. He yelled, "Slow down mister!" Thankfully he wasn't traumatized and was willing to try more rides. Although the next one we took him on was a wet one. Oops.

He was excited to go on "all myself".

He asked me just yesterday if I have a long neck like a giraffe. I was looking up and said, "what do you think?" He said I do, but he says he does too.

This ride was way more his speed.

Poor James; all scrunched up in the back of a frog just to be with Ezra.
We found this old man and we decided to adopt him.

James' uncle Mitch. He got James to not only eat, but love asparagus! I was very impressed. Our visit with him was too short :(
Yosemite:
Yosemite. Ezra was excited to throw rocks in the water and to see the waterfalls.

Makai was in the car. Sorry baby Kai!

Yosemite Falls

Lower Yosemite Falls- So windy, but so beautiful.

Makai spent a lot of his time in this thingy, but just about every time I got Makai out Ezra jumped right in.

James has been very behind on his haircuts. He was so long overdue that he actually let someone else cut his hair AND he paid money for it. He was just that desperate... and hot.

This is one of James' aunts, Anne, AKA Banana. She's a lot of fun. I, sadly, didn't get any pics of his aunt Peggy who is also a lot of fun. She told me during family dinner that I'm "smart in there somewhere." She totally meant it in a good way if you believe that!

Casa de Fruta:
Ezra was enjoying exploring some trains at Casa de Fruta.

Monterey Bay Aquarium:
The beautiful ocean view right outside of the aquarium.

Makai was so fascinated with all the fish. I didn't think he'd be interested at all, but he had the widest eyes through the whole thing. He would just sit there watching them with big eyes and big smiles. It was so fun. He reached out and put his hand on the glass when a fish swam by him. I just loved watching him be so intrigued.

They had lots of kid friendly exhibits!

I couldn't figure out how to turn the flash on my camera off, so when I tried to take a picture of the beautiful, bright yellow jellyfish, this is what I got. I don't know that kid. I wish I did. I think it's a cool picture.

After the aquarium we headed over to Bubba Gump's for some lunch. James couldn't resist.

I told him he looks pregnant and he said he was just getting into character.

The Ocean:
So cold. Ezra couldn't handle the wind so he and Makai stayed in the car. I had the urge to run head first into the water, but I contained my urge and opted for numb feet instead. I LOVE the ocean. Note: Don't ever shave your legs right before you put them in the ocean. It burns. A lot.

I didn't get many pictures of Makai, but I promise he was there too. He actually slept THROUGH the night TWICE while we were there. That has NEVER happened. There were a couple of nights where he only woke up once at night too. I was amazed. I was also hoping it would continue when we got home, but I haven't been so lucky. Maybe it was the bed?

We're a little sad to be back to the every day hum-drum. It's always good to be home, but we had such a great time that it made it a little hard. Here's what we came home to:

It was a great break for all of us. Though we didn't come back with a tan. Guess we'll just have to go back...
